Christian Education
Study and learning opportunities for adults at Plymouth church include the regular Sunday Morning Chapel Class at 9:45 am; occasional special Sunday speakers at Soup 'N' Discussion lunches at Noon and occasional forums with visiting lecturers in oru Folsom Room. Other educaiton opportunites take place regularly on Wednesday evenings, and in short units through the program year, some on weekdays or evenings, and others at weekend hours. Plymouth Church offers regular Youth Fellowship groups for Middle Schoolers, every Sunday from Noon to 2:00 pm at the Church, and for Senior High teens every first and third Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Teens gather for learning, service, fellowship, special projects and offsite activities. They also plan and host fundraisers to fund regular mission and activity trips each summer. PowerXpress Workshops
PowerXpress is our Christian Education program for children offered every Sunday morning during the 10:45 AM hour. Each month, children from Kindergarten through Middle School will explore one Bible story by traveling through a "rotation" of workshops exploring that Bible story through storytelling, Bible exploration, arts & crafts, multimedia resources, games, food making & tasting, computer programs, music, drama & movement, and other creative workshops that look deeper into the story. Children 4 years and younger will meet in a contained classroom with their own teachers to explore the stories through storytelling and creative play.
Each team of teachers will present one "workshop" each month. Each week a different age group of children will visit each of these workshops in turn, to look into the story for that month in a different way. In this way, children get to explore and truly learn a story in multiple ways, and we can incorporate more adults working with the children in workshops that demonstrate their particular skills and interests to the children.
Our Sunday morning Christian Education time for Pre-School, Elementary and Middle School young people is entering its second season of PowerXpress workshops. Age-grouped Workshops are offered each week for ages 5 through Grade 8. Three and Four-year-olds learn together in an enclosed setting in the Pre-School area in Room #11A. Child Care is available for toddlers during this time in Room #11B.
